It’s 2003, 9 years since Season 3, when our heroes, Danielle, Kuznetsov and Ed first landed on Mars. Believe it or not, there are now 2-300 people living on Mars.

The colony is called Happy Valley, made up of people from the Mars 7 – a coalition of 7 spacefaring nations that includes the USA and the Soviet Union, working together. Optimism for a new society is tempered by many of the same issues on Earth: Commercialization, exploitation and corruption. After all, humans must be human, these aspects of behavior still exist, even here on Mars. Meanwhile, our heroes have aged, they are 9 years older than in the last season and in some cases, their priorities and their loyalties have changed. Some are more loyal to Mars and less loyal to Earth. Some don’t want to take orders from distant Earth any more. Plus, there is a new generation of younger pioneers, not astronauts, that are emerging to lead the Mars community in a different direction, breaking rules and striking out for independence in ways that even the older generation cannot tolerate. Stand by for some serious tension as Mars makes its first move!
